It all began in the summer of 2010 when I was taking classes at Syracuse University. John happened to be one of the Resident Hall Advisers. When he was at the front desk, I would always anticipate a smart and funny remark. Fast-forward to the summer of 2013, when I mustered up the courage to ask him out to the movie theaters. Thus the adventures of a lifetime began. Our conversations became more meaningful, our text messages a little sweeter, and our dates were more frequent. John was inevitably becoming my soulmate and little did we know that it would lead to our union.
I had devised the perfect plan on December 31, 2016. I decided I would propose exactly as the clock turned 12:00AM on Jan 1st, 2017.
I casually offered to take her to the nail salon so she could get a nice nail design for the unexpected ring she would be wearing. Yarmine had no idea.
Without her realizing it, I grabbed a bottle of champagne for the special moment. I hid the champagne in the trunk of the car.
After spending nearly an entire day at the mall getting her nails done and choosing the perfect shoes, I wanted to capture how beautiful she looked. Here she was thinking it would be just another NYE.
We ate at one of our favorite Italian restaurants in Yonkers. Everything was running on schedule.
